Comment: Keep returning to your fantastic pictures. Love the one showing the newly refurbished camera obscura. I remember it well. Do you remember when there was an electric toast rack type of lift up to the top of Douglas Head from the jetty? My wife and I were over on the Island again last June and can't wait for our next visit, probably 2006 now as we are unable to come over this year. Thanks for keeping me in touch!

Comment: Great site, Peter, although it has made me very homesick since i grew up in Peel during the late fifties/early sixties, leaving the island in '68 to go to the 'mainland'.

Comment: The photo of the character in the wooden thing is in the "stocks", an historic method of punishment. A person would have been sitting on the narrow end of a board behind with feet stuck straight out for anywhere from 2 hours to a day or so - ouch! Why is there one in the Curraghs, I wonder???
