As of yesterday, Chris and I have now booked our annual holiday on the island - 23 June to 7 July, staying in Port Erin, Peel and finally Douglas. Can't wait, and we must try to meet up this year and put names to faces!
We have to fly from Liverpool this year, as there are no longer any flights from Leeds/Bradford :-(

Comment: Loved Your Pictures. I was last in the I.O.M.in August 1951. I have an old B&W photo that I took of the Villa Marina one night when Joe Loss and his band were there. I time exposed it by holding the shutter open and counting off a few seconds. It turned out to be readable but a horse tram gallopped past whilst I was counting. It ruined the shot but not the memories.

Comment: Came across your terrific site and instantly your photos sent me back forty year to very happy times when my family vacationed six years in a row in Port St Mary. At the time, my family lived in Cheshire. I remember mostly the long walks, the railway, and of course the castles. I always said that someday I would return and stay in Port St Mary again. Maybe I don’t have excuses now; as I have good friends now residing in Douglas.

Comment: Dear Peter I have searched many websites for Photographs of the iom but have found yours to be the best I am a photographer myself with many weddings and portriats in my collection although I have since ginen it up as it started as a hobby many years ago, and wanted it to stay that way, when I come over to the island which is at least 3 times a year like you i am always inawe of the island and its fantastic veiws keep up the good work and I will be in touch again by e-mail rgds Steve
