Comment: I especially enjoyed your January 2004 photo of the Laxey Promenade. My father, James Herbert Lawson, was born to Robert & Christian (Lewney) Lawson in 1896, the youngest of 15 children, and they lived in Sea Villa, right on the promenade. I believe I still have a cousin, George Lawson living in Laxey.

Comment: Left the Island early 1950's to live in Liverpool and ended up in Cottingley,West Yorkshire in the 1970's. This Manxman has gone from one place with fairies to another but misses the place where the real fairies are. Thanks Peter for the wonderful photos of the land of my birth. Comment: Found a little info on Killey - originally Mac Gilla Ceallaigh, anglicised in Ireland into Mac Killey Kelly and Killy Kelly. The MAC and the KELLY have been dropped leaving KILLEY, which is identical in meaning with GILL. In the Isle of Mann formerly the same person was called GILL and KILLEY indifferently.The name is of late introduction, and is purely Manx. KILLIE -1610, KILLEY -1651, KILLY -1704. Hope this helps, similar to info someone else has provided.
