Comment: The meaning of "Killey". "A young man"
This purely Manx spelling was introduced in 1651. Originally Mac Gilla Ceallaigh, anglicised in Ireland into MacKilly Kelly (O'Dubhagain, p.67). The Mac & the Kelly were dropped, leaving Killy, or "Killey" if you will. Identical in meaning with Gill. Gill, contracted from "Giolla", meaning "A YOUNG MAN, OR YOUTH". We have spoken before on e-mail, I enjoy your photos, just wish I could holiday over there but i use a carvan now and can not take it to the Island. By the way i do not know the meaning of the name Killey even though it is my name.

Comment: I was born in the IOM in 1952, left because mum had to see sunny california in 1965. 3 months after we arrived in california my dad passed away. We had no money to go home. I raised my son alone and took care of my mum when she took ill. My one and only wish is to go home and walk the same paths I did with my dad. Your pix are magnificent. Thank you thank you thank you..i feel i'm there when i see your work....

Comment: Looking through your pictures brought tears to my eyes. The smell of the Heather fields, the feel of the cold Sea Mist, it has all come back, & I thank you. I lived on the Island from 1973, through 1976, returning on vacation in 1981.I've told my 21 yr old son about the Island thousands of times, but now, thanks to your photos,he has fallen in love with her as well.
